La randonnée était assez difficile car nous parcourons beaucoup de km chaque jour et montons rapidement en dénivelé. Cependant, la récompense en vaut le coup. C'est une expérience très authentique et dépaysante. L'équipe de Salento Trekking est très conviviale et serviable. Notre guide Jason était véritablement passionné et nous a appris beaucoup de choses sur l'écosystème et le pays. Merci beaucoup !

I’ve done the classic loop but we finished a bit earlier then expected because of the fast walking pace of me and the guide. Decided last minute to do the extra summit nevado del tolima and they were super flexible and open to help me with the last minute request. Such a professional organization and can only recommend them if you are looking to go hiking in Salento.

Experiencia fantástica: If I could I’d give Diego and his company Salento Trekking 10 stars. We completed a 3 day trek from Salento to Pereira and enjoyed the tour a lot! Everything was handled very professionally. The guide knew everything about birds and plants and went above and beyond to show us all sorts of interesting things. He cares a lot about the people that live in the mountains, which is evident from his relationships with people living in the fincas. This enabled us to experience fincas in a totally different way. He was full of interesting stories, so we’ve had so much fun! And last but not least, the company takes great care to ensure safety of the travellers, which is very important at high altitudes of Los Nevados. I was unlucky to struggle with altitude sickness, but the guide was always super attentive to my status and knew detailedly the phisiology of the disease and right treatments, so I felt good and very safe during all the trek. We saw some other turist groups in the fincas that went with other agencies and can say that the attention we received from our guide was on another level. If you’re considering doing a Los Nevados trek, Salento Trekking is a great company.

Siempre con una gran sonrisa y sentido del humor.

Experiencia fantástica: We did the La Carbonera Day-Tour from Salento and it was perfect! The palm valley is privately owned so there were no tourists apart from us and Rogelio was super knowledgeable, sharing interesting information during the day. The landscape and views are super dreamy! The tour is also very flexible, given that you have your own driver/ jeep, and we decided to skip the second part of the hike after the first 8km since it looked like it was about to rain. Definitely recommend!!

Ein Erlebnis das uns lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird und wir sofort wieder machen würden. Salento trekking ist super unkompliziert und herzlich! Experiencia fantástica: I took the 3 day Trek to the Paramillo del Quindio! It definitely was a challenge however an experience that I would not want to miss. Wonderful hikes during the day and fun nights at the fincas. Big thanks to Julien, he was the perfect Guide and is such a nice Person! Don't forget to bring some extra warm clothes, the nights at the fincas can get really cold. Would do it again anytime.

Our guid seemed a bit uninterested sometimes, he didn’t seem to care if he’s walking to fast for us or sometimes he was way in the back and we didn’t see him anymore. He did get us extra blankets at night though… The tour was also very expensive!

Experiencia fantástica: Nous avons vécu deux expériences incroyables grâce à Diego et Julian de Salento Trekking ! D’abord, 3 jour de marche à travers Los Nevados. Julian était très attentif à notre état en altitude et nous a raconté plein d’anecdotes sur les lieux. Le contact était très facile, les paysages merveilleux et les soirées / nuits en Finca mémorables. C’était magique de dormir au sein des montagnes, de voir le quotidien des fermiers andins. Je recommande ! Pleins de tours sont possibles en fonction du temps dont vous disposez. Nous sommes ensuite partis pour 3 jours de vélo itinérant de La Florida à Jardin. Ce fut une expérience sportive merveilleuse : nous avons roulé seuls à travers des paysages magnifiques, (sur piste, très peu de route). A noter que le niveau physique et sportif pour cette cours est exigeant ! Julian a été au petit soin et un super guide pour nous mener à travers les Andes. Diego a mené la logistique d’une main de fer sans oublier de nous raconter pleins d’anecdotes sur la Colombie lors des repas conviviaux partagés tous ensembles. Nous avons passé une semaine mémorable sur ces deux excursions : je recommande à 100% Salento Trekking !

Experiencia negativa: Je n’ai pas pour habitude de laisser des avis négatifs mais malgré un guide au top, le prix que nous avons payé était exorbitant par rapport au service que nous avons reçu. 500€ pour 2 personnes (trek de 3 jours) pour dormir dans des fermes ouvertes à 3400 (Finca la Argentina) et 3800 m (Finca la Playa) d’altitude soit 2° pendant la nuit sur des matelas de 15cm. Nous étions littéralement gelées ! L’agence n’avait pas jugé nécessaire de nous dire de ramener de grosses vestes et pulls malgré nos interrogations. Pensez à vous couvrir si vous faites ce trek, il fait super froid en haut ! Niveau nourriture nous avons mangé du riz pendant 3 jours y compris au petit dej’. Un service bien décevant donc pour le prix. Concernant le trek, les paysages étaient magnifiques et l’ascension jusqu’à 4500m près du Paramillo del Quindio est à la hauteur de l’effort pour y accéder. Un petit coin de paradis au milieu des montagnes.

Experiencia fantástica: We booked a 3-day tour "Classic Loop" with Salento Trekking. In the beginning we wanted to do a tour to the Otún lake, unfortunately this part of the park was closed. However we had a wonderful three days of hiking with our lovely guide Isabella. The Classic Loop to the Paramillo de Quindío was quite hard - especially because of the height - but the views where just amazing. I would totally recommend booking a hike with Salento Trekking :)

Experiencia positiva: We did a guided hike of La Carbonera, which ended up being just two of us with our lovely guide Jian. The hike itself was beautiful, with many gorgeous views, lots of spectacular birds, fantastic stands of wax pines. Much of the day, however, is spent in a vehicle driving up a challenging road, which is under construction. The driver was friendly and cautious, but it did feel like it was as much driving as hiking. Being in the mountains, essentially alone with our guide, was gorgeous. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and patient with our Spanish, even as he spoke perfect English. Bottom line is that it is a beautiful hike, but half the time is spent in the vehicle. I wonder if the 2 day hike would be a preferred way of enjoying a guided hiking experience in this region - more hiking, less driving.

Experiencia fantástica: Nous avons passé une excellente journée dans la vallée de la Carbonera, nous avons choisi de visiter la vallée puis redescendre à Salento en marchant sur 16 km. Nous sommes partis à 8 h de l'agence et rentrés vers 16h30. Le guide Julian était très agréable et communiquait en anglais et en espagnol. Le trajet en jeep ne nous a pas paru long, les paysages dont splendides et le chauffeur conduit très prudemment. Je recommande totalement cette agence, le personnel est professionnel et sympathique.

Experiencia positiva: Contact en anglais facile. Guide très agréable pour notre tour de la carbonera. Par contre nous n'avons pas fait tout ce qui était décrit sur la plaquette : sandwich à la place d'un repas typique dans une finca. On est rentré à 15h au lieu de 17. On a passé une très bonne journée au final mais trop onéreuse par rapport au contenu effectif de la journée.

Experiencia negativa: I went on the 3 day hike from Valle de Cocora through the Paramillo del Quindío & La Primavera. The views were spectacular however I have never been on a guided tour where someone was left completely behind to the point of not seeing anyone for 10+ minutes constantly. For me, the hike was more of a solo hike than a guided one as I hardly saw anyone because I was constantly left behind. The first day, we arrived 2 hours earlier than the itinerary and the second day we arrived about 30 minutes earlier yet I felt in constant rush to try keep up with the guide. Twice I had to open GPS maps because I couldn't see my group, one of which times was up in Paramillo del Quindío when it was foggy. Only when the guide shouted for me, did I see the group faintly. When I informed the guide that I couldn't see him and used the map, he told me that he was waiting for me, which didn't help me as I couldn't see him, or the way. This absolutely should not happen when it cost 800,000 Colombian pesos for the hike. The only positives of the hike were the views (which I couldn't really enjoy as I struggled to keep up with the guide) and the fincas we stayed in which served delicious, healthy, filling food with friendly hosts. All in all, a disappointing experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Reliable and very nice tour operator. Liked our three day hike from Salento to Pereira. It is a tough but doable treck that shows you the Andese in all its glory. If you plan for a trip would recommend Salento Trekking.

Ce n’est pas une sortie pour des randonneurs mais pour des amateurs de jeep en montagne - pas le même public. Le guide était agréable mais peu présent pour les visiteurs non hispanophones.

Experiencia fantástica: Une agence que nous recommandons. C’est la seule de la ville que nous avons trouvée qui propose des excursions personnalisées. Deux, trois ou quatre jours avec votre guide attitré (possible même pour une seule personne). Nous avons eu le guide Islen qui a été parfait tout au long de nos 2 jours. Il a été très attentionné et nous a même permis de bien progresser en espagnol. L’agence peut vous prêter du matériel si vous n’avez pas tout ce qu’il faut (bâton de randonnée, poncho de pluie, lampe frontale …) Pour le trek de 2 jours, la première journée commence à 8h à l’agence puis nous allons au point de départ à Cocora en van. La randonnée se termine environ vers 15h à la Finca Argentina (environ 3400m). Le deuxième jour commence à 7h pour monter jusqu’à 4000 mètres environ puis le retour vers 16h a Salento. La randonnée n’est pas très technique mais nécessite tout de même un bon niveau physique car le manque d’oxygène se ressent dès 3000m. Les paysages de frailejon sont splendides même si on n’en profite que sur la partie la plus haute du trek.

Experiencia fantástica: We did a 3 day hike in January 2023 with Salento trekking, and we had such a good experience! Diego is very friendly and offers a lot of flexibility. Opposed to another trekking company in Salento, we could start the hike we preferred on any date we preferred. The group size was very small (only 3 people), so we received plenty of personal attention. In advance we could borrow the items we didn’t have, like a lightweight backpack and rain boots. Our guide Isabella was great! She was very patient, friendly and knowledgeable, and really wanted us to have a good time. With regard to the hike itself: it was absolutely beautiful. I have to admit we got lucky with the weather, as we only felt a few rain drops during the 3 days. The finca’s where you stay at night are indeed very basic, but if you keep this in mind and dress well for cold weather, you should be fine. We couldn’t have had a better experience, thank you so much!

Experiencia fantástica: Nous sommes tombés un peu par hasard sur cette agence. Nous avons été reçu chaleureusement par Isabella. Nous sommes ensuite partis pour une randonnée de trois jours avec Isabella et Andres pour monter jusqu’à 4200 mètres. Toute la randonnée s’est fait en bottes en caoutchouc compte tenu de l’humidité. Dans ce contexte pas facile, l’accompagnement, les conseils, l’organisation étaient parfaits. Nous avons également pu rencontrer le patron de l’agence qui a été chaleureux et professionnel du début à la fin de cette aventure ! Il s’agit d’une agence à recommander sans aucun doute.

Experiencia fantástica: excelente, tuve una muy buena experiencia cuando hice un trek de 4 días en los Nevados. fuimos a la Cima del Tolima y los dos guías fueron espectaculares.

Experiencia negativa: Vriendelijke eigenaar, ongetwijfeld kundig. Maar: De avond voor vertrek een bericht dat de engels sprekende tolk ziek was, een vervanger die 50/50 engels spreekt. De beste gids sprak helaas geen enkel woord engels. Toen het van 3 dagen 1,5 dag werd ivm hoogte ziekte en niet kunnen communiceren hoe hier het beste mee om te kunnen gaan werd ik wel droevig. Oja, tracks waren niet fijn, rubber laarzen waren net voldoende de sokken droog te houden. Door paarden stuk gelopen, bagger.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellentes expériences avec cette agence sur 2 randonnées : Carbonera avec Christian et un trek de 3 jours entre Cocora et Pereira avec Andres Felipe. 2 guides très sympa et professionnels ! Agence qui donne de bons conseils et prête du matériel adapté.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a great time hiking up into the paramo with Diego. Although the weather wasn’t ideal we still had a great time and would recommend to anyone wanting to do the hike!

Experiencia positiva: We did the one Day trekk, La Carbonera. Our guide, Andres, was really nice and kind ! We learned a lot about the vegetations and the Colombian farmer life style. Overall, I think that this is really expensive, at least for the one day trekk. Might be cheaper to go to the Cocora valley by jeep and do the trekk there to see the palm trees. Try not to go when it rains a lot.

Experiencia positiva: Our guide Christian was fantastic. He got us up and down Nevado del Tolima safely, and was able to communicate the use of equipment and plans despite somewhat of a language barrier. We learned he was from Finca la Primavera (one of the farms on the lower slopes of Tolima). He was truly an expert on the land we were traversing. The company itself seemed had some issues with management. They didn’t tell us we needed to pay in cash until we arrived to meet our guide, they didn’t list all necessary equipment we’d need for the trek (thankfully we are somewhat experienced and brought what was needed), and the logistics of the trip weren’t communicated until we asked about 10 days before the trip was supposed to happen. Overall it all worked out and we had a great trekking experience with Christian, but we had to be proactive in seeking out details from the company and even then some important information was never communicated.

Experiencia fantástica: What an awesome experience. We met Diego, the owner, who e planned everything really well. He was very nice and provided us with a couple of things we needed to make sure we had everything we needed. Christian was the Guide- 5 stars for him- was Awesome, nice, knowledgeable, good sense of humor and always alert to make sure we’re doing ok. I had a small incident where I hurt my finger and the response from the company was amazing!!!!! I would recommend this company to anyone…. They are the very best !! Experiencia fantástica: Nous avons pris le circuit Salento - Pereira. Au début nous étions un tout petit peu déçus car nous ne verrons pas le lac Otun mais finalement nous en avons pris plein les yeux! Les paysages (magnifiques !) changent tout le temps. Nous étions accompagnés par Andres une personne formidable, très serviable et patient (je ne suis pas alpiniste juste une randonneuse niveau moyen ). Le contact avec les propriétaires était très simple et efficace (WhatsApp). Si je dois être critique sur un point c’est par rapport à notre première nuit à la finca Argentina, car au prix payé nous aurions aimé un poil plus de confort. Je ne demande pas un service 5 étoiles, mais juste le fait de pouvoir se réchauffer autour du feu après une pluie battante par exemple). Donc prévoyez bien des bâtons de randonnée, et surtout plusieurs affaires (chauds) de rechange, mettez les dans un sac étanche, et un bon sac de couchage ne serait pas de trop! Sinon pour le reste je recommande vivement!

L auberge Argentina est un petit bijoux de convivialité et de gentillesse. Un record pour moi 45kms avec des paysages et une végétation à couper le souffle. Merci pour tout

Experiencia positiva: Très déçus de l’excursion carbonera. La moitié de la randonnée ce passe sur la route principale ou par un chemin de sentier sans aucune vue. Vous faite que de la descente ce que je trouve vraiment pas intéressant. La seule partie qui était vraiment bien était au niveau de la vallé carbonera qui à duré 1h. Donc clairement par rapport au prix qui est demandé autant faire une visite simple en voiture.

Experiencia negativa: This tour is very expensive and not worth the money. The owner did not take my concerns seriously. Also the rating on Google Maps is very inflated and therefore misleading. Many of these reviews are of the town of Salento, not of this particular business. Take a look for yourself. My knee was hurting and the guides kept pushing the pace because they wanted to get home. Very impatient and lacking in empathy. It was dangerous to go quickly down slippery rocks on the descent. Even when the other two of my group fell, the guides insisted we continue without stopping for a breather. Should have stopped at base camp. Many better tours spend the night there before ascending the volcano. Otherwise you’re hiking at least 12 hours round trip from farm and back. Boss was too cheap to buy his employees better jackets. So the guides didn’t want to take breaks because they didn’t want to get cold if they stopped moving. Hiking poles should be provided False advertising. Guides didn’t speak English. I had to translate to the others in group. Also we paid for two guides. One of them was totally useless. Someone in our group had altitude sickness. The owner Diego told us that the second guide was there to take the sick person back down so the rest of us could continue up. Turns out the second guide didn’t know the route back down so we all had to turn around before reaching the summit. The hike itself is beautiful and worth doing but better to go with a different company or hike alone to Finca La Primavera and hire a guide from there to take you to summit.

Experiencia positiva: Thanks to Diego for contacting me; due to some issues internally, my trip was not within the normal channels. The receptionist that coordinated our trip seems to have used resources outside of Diego's policy and framework. Look forward to doing the summit upon my return to Colombia; thanks for your professional attention to your clients Diego. You have been warned! My tour was nothing short of promise and misdirection/deception(see photos)! When we arrived we were told to meet in the morning at 8am; we also had conversations stating that equipment was being uploaded for Tolima! Once we arrived in the office, we were told a group had left at 6am (also a landslide), neither was true! Later in the morning we ascended with no sight of a landslide nor in the evening was there a group from Solento Trekking heading to Tolima (finca Argentina). Prior to our departure, we were told that we'd meet the group or be taken solo to the base of Tolima. Neither was true nor did it happen! We were taken off course, even when I stated to the guide that this isn't the route! The tour we were taken on was a previous tour I'd taken to Paramillo del Quindío! This route is almost never visible; there's a valley which creates low pressure clouds which inhibits you from seeing what they promise (guide); this is not what we paid for and suggest you not do this route (save your money)! Lastly, I gave Diego the opportunity to make things right, he hasn't!

Experiencia positiva: We did a 3 days trek from Cocora valley The trek was great We saw very beautiful landscapes, it was very diversified. We were very lucky because the weather was nice the third day ! However, the guide was not very good. He would never tell us what we were doing, what distance, where we were going, until what time and how the place were called. We always had to ask. We paid for meals we never saw. The second day we walked for 8 hours without eating anything. The guide did not pay much attention to us. He was very fast and did not wait for us. It was very slippery, I felt one time, I scratched myself and hurt my wrist but he did not care at all, he kept going.

I would recommend this company, everything went smoothly and it was worth the money :) the hike was tough ( long days) but I knew this befor. They have many hikes so even if you just wanna do a short hike or not to the highest point they probably have something that fits your wishes. Keep up the good work

Experiencia fantástica: The guides where very friendly and supported the walk well. Know what you are signing up for, you'll need good boots and if you don't exercise regularly you should tell them and see what tracks are practical for you to complete. I enjoyed my time and am happy to have invested in a good pair of shoes to do the 3 day hike. English is reasonable but should be improved if they want to give more guidance.
