Experiencia fantástica: Gigio (Gildardo) is the best guide we have ever had. We booked a private tour to Museo del oro and it was fantastic. Gigio loves his job and you feel the enthusiam. Gigio provides so much interesting information and leads you perfectly through the ancient life of Columbia. Experiencia fantástica: Our group of 4 had a layover in Bogotá and instead of staying at the airport, Impulse travel organised a city tour. The booking process was easy, a lot of information and options were given. All was perfectly planned, our guide Gildardo sent us a message via WhatsApp, with details where to find him once we cleared customs. We had an enjoyable couple of hours in the city ( despite the rain ) and tried out arepas !

We did the Sounds of Colombia tour and while I was expecting some interesting music, I wasn't prepared for how off the hook it was- we had 7 distinctly different experiences and all were amazing. The variety of types of music and the deep relationships that Impulse had built with the locals ensured that it was truly a trip to remember. Culture, music, food, history, current events. I feel 1000 times smarter about Colombia now that I've done this trip. Sign me up for the Pacific side trip!

What a great job! - he answered dozens of questions very promptly and patiently. - gave suggestions on the itinerary based on our specific needs and abilities (greatly appreciated!). - arranged all the details in this long and complicated itinerary. - stayed in touch throughout the whole trip allowing and taking care of a couple of small adjustments. What we found particularly IMPRESSIVE and UNIQUE was: - Felipe's engagement of LOCAL people and his effort to have us interact and learn about local/indigenous people, history and culture of each area we visited. - we actually got a cost listing for our trip!!! Now, that makes you feel full transparency and honesty on the part of the company and that endears them to you, for sure. We were well taken care of, felt safe, treated individually, and all our guides/drivers/translators were very considerate, punctual and cordial. Five stars for Felipe and his team. Experiencia fantástica: Oralis was a wonderful guide. Great with our kids (ages 10 and 14). The day started with rain and she was able to pivot and still show us around and make the day wonderful! Impulse also arranged car service to and from the airport and to our various activities (fruit tasting, salsa lessons, art tour or Getsemaní. Would recommend them to anyone going to Colombia!

Experiencia fantástica: We used Gigio to have an excursion to an artisanal coffee farm outside of Bogotá, and it was a terrific experience! Gigio arrived promptly and began describing the trip right away. He inquired about our experience in South America and interests so he could tailor his information to them. His English is excellent, and his knowledge of Colombian history was impressive. The ride to the small community in San Francisco was very enjoyable as well with beautiful views.

Experiencia fantástica: "A Musical Journey from the Crescent City to Colombia," this tour occurred in August 2024 in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage (Festival) Foundation. Juliana Medina, Impulse Travel, was the guide and coordinator. Gregorio Uribe was the musical guide/expert. Juliana did a meticulous job at logistics of details and looking after all the participants from lost luggage to flight delays, to an overcrowded Petronio Alvarez festival, unexpected changes. Can't say enough good things about the logistics provided. The restaurants, musical artists and venues and unofficial activities all provided a memorable cultural immersion. It really helped to stay in luxury hotels as a respite from the heat. The hotels provided a recharge. This was a customized music and culture tour in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival Foundation. Would highly recommend any variation that Impulse Travel offers. All the staff were very welcoming. Traveled to Cali and Cartagena on this trip. Also took a customized Cartegena City Tour. Just what we wanted to do instead of going to the beach. Guide took us to a mix of good quality local stores, museums and historical sites customized to what we wanted to do. Mix of riding and walking. We were pleased. We would highly recommend. Impulse Travel does an excellent job at providing a fun, educational and smooth logistical travel experience.

Experiencia fantástica: This tour was very special and I had been looking forward to it for a long time. We booked the "Breaking Borders" tour, where former gang members guided us through the Barrio Egipto. We went with Harold and Monkey, and Martha also translated for us. The concept is simple and complicated at the same time - from criminal to tour guide. Since 2016, tours have been offered by former gang members who were born into a spiral of violence and now have a family themselves and want to close this circle. They told us that the neighborhood had been ignored for decades. There was no infrastructure such as schools, hospitals or proper roads. There was no way to escape the violence. But since the tours started, the neighborhood has changed a lot. The tour was very moving and authentic. This was of course due to our great guides Monkey and Harold, who took us on their personal journey. They told us about their tough childhood in the favela. In the neighborhood, colorful graffiti by artists from Bogotá, other corners of Colombia and the world depict the dark past and the hopeful future. There are still several gangs in Egipto, but thanks to the tours they have grown closer and accept each other. Unfortunately, however, it is a thin bond and violence in the neighborhood is on the rise again. Immigrants from Venezuela in particular are often desperate and are becoming increasingly aggressive as a result. For this reason, we could not go far into the favela. It would have been too dangerous for everyone. Overall, we felt very safe. Every person we met during the tour was incredibly warm and grateful. Even Monkey's son thanked us, but actually we are the ones who should be saying thank you. After the tour by our two guides, we visited the weaving and wood carving workshops of the "Fundación Buena Semilla" association. This association also runs a children's and youth center as a social service and is largely responsible for the positive change in Egiptos. This was definitely one of the best tours we have ever done. Everyone should do this tour, as it is a prime example of sustainable social tourism.

We were exhausted from an overnight flight, and it was great to have someone guide us at our pace through the highlights of the city. Helped to recommend places to eat and even books to read. The only bad part was not having more time- we'll definitely be coming back to Bogota in the future. Highly recommend this tour and Gigio as a guide!

Our consultant, Diego Pulido, was awesome: very attentive and helpful in making our arrangements. It was all arranged via email between Australia and Colombia. Diego always kept in contact, making sure that all my queries were answered and we had all our travel details. All our experiences, which included four day trips, three half days tours and a three day excursion to San Agustin, all went without a hitch. As we visited landmarks and local business and heard the success stories of people who had been displaced in the turbulent years leading up to the 2016 Peace treaty I was stunned by how much Colombia has evolved in a short period of time. I gained a deeper understanding of how the economic, political, cultural and societal threads of people with differing perspectives need to be skillfully woven together to create change. Everything about the tour was remarkable, but the time we spent at Fragmentos was profound. I highly recommend Impulse Tours and spending a day with Raul!

I wish I could have spent more time in the city, but John and Jorge were super organized and made the most of the small time I did have.

Experiencia fantástica: Bogotá en 4 horas - ¡simplemente genial! Abril 2024 Nosotros (familia y un niño de 13 años) tuvimos una experiencia particularmente agradable en Bogotá: como teníamos una escala de 10 horas en Bogotá, decidimos con poca antelación (un día antes) hacer el tour corto de 4 horas. Cuando llegamos al aeropuerto de Bogotá (6 de la mañana), pude conectarme al wifi gratuito durante 30 minutos para ver el estado de la reserva. El tour estaba confirmado. También recibí un WhatsApp de nuestra muy amable guía Marta que estaba esperando afuera en el Café Oma. Pasamos la migración en unos 45 mins. Luego caminamos por el hall para recoger maletas. Nuestras maletas estaban en tránsito y por suerte no tuvimos que preocuparnos por ellas. El aeropuerto El Dorado está muy bien organizado, limpio y tiene muchas tiendas y cafeterías bonitas. También es caro para los estándares europeos. Se aceptan euros y dólares. Cuando salimos eran las 7.15 de la mañana e inmediatamente a nuestra izquierda estaba el Café Oma. Marta se dirigió a nosotros directamente por nuestro nombre y nos alegramos de haberlo encontrado todo tan fácilmente. Pudimos guardar nuestro equipaje de mano de forma segura en el coche. El conductor estuvo en el coche todo el tiempo y no quitó ojo de encima. Después de acordar con Marta, decidimos no conducir hasta la montaña de Montserrat, ya que estábamos bastante cansados y no lo suficientemente preparados para la altitud de 3000 metros. Además, estaba muy nublado y a última hora del día sólo se veía la silueta de la montaña. No obstante, el tour fue una experiencia muy estupendo. Marta era una guía de la ciudad extremadamente amable que tuvo bastante paciencia con nosotros ya que caminábamos muy despacios. Fue capaz de transmitirnos muy bien sus amplios conocimientos y su inglés era impecable. Estamos muy agradecidos de haber podido ver tanto en tan poco tiempo. El viaje en coche fue impecable y muy cómodo. Hubo mucho atasco por la mañana, pero Marta pudo contarnos muchas cosas sobre Colombia y Bogotá y pudimos hacer fotos bonitas de los grafitis. Primero nos dirigimos al singular barrio de la Candaleria, con sus numerosas callejuelas. Aún era temprano y Bogotá se estaba despertando. Así que pudimos pasear un poco sin encontrarnos con demasiadas multitudes. Marta nos contó algo sobre cada calle o plaza. Pudimos hacer todas las preguntas que nos interesaron. Más tarde, el coche nos estaba esperando de nuevo y nos llevó al siguiente punto. La plaza principal era única e impresionante. Marta siempre nos decía que tuviéramos cuidado y que no se nos acercaran los vendedores ambulantes. Nos sentimos muy bien atendidos. Marta nos contaba datos interesantes y pudimos visualizarlo todo, por ejemplo, cómo Simón Bolívar saltó por la ventana. Incluso tuvimos tiempo de tomar un pequeño tentempié y un café con mate de coca entre medias. Después fuimos a la Casa de la Moneta y al Museo Botero. Nos quedamos muy impresionados. Lo disfrutamos mucho. El viaje de vuelta al aeropuerto fue cómodo y rápido. Marta nos acompañó hasta la puerta de seguridad. Descansamos en la sala El Dorado hasta nuestro vuelo. Nos fuimos de Bogotá con una gran sensación y siempre recordaremos esta maravillosa experiencia. Gracias Marta.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing experience in Egipto with the gang members understanding their past, the history of the place and the current challenges and threats they still face. The group we met were very friendly, welcoming and super nice to us. We loved meeting them and spending time with them and would recommend all tourists to Bogota to do a tour with the gang to learn about how they are looking to change their lives now. Cannot recommend this tour enough whether done directly with the people in Egipto or with a translator from a tour company.

Experiencia fantástica: Wir haben über meine-Landausflüge.de eine Streetfoodtour durch die Altstadt von Cartagena gebucht. Carlos Nr. 1 war unser Tourguide und hat uns mit seinem Humor und Witz temperamentvoll die Geschichte Cartagenas nähergebracht. Er hätte wirklich nichts besser machen können. Auch die verschiedenen Essensstationen hat er sorgfältig ausgesucht und es war superlecker. Carlos Nr. 2 war unser Security-Guide. Er war immer im Hintergrund, hatte alles im Blick und hat sehr gut aufgepasst. Alles in Allem war der Ausflug top und wir würden ihn jederzeit wieder machen.

Experiencia fantástica: El tour fue excelente. Tuvimos poco tiempo para conocer la ciudad, pero superó nuestras expectativas. Gigio nos mostró puntos muy bonitos de Bogotá y seleccionó un camino que encajaba en nuestro horario. Recomendamos mucho el tour y ahora nos gustaría volver para continuar el tour.

Experiencia positiva: The tour guide was so excellent (Raul) and the drive was fantastic (I'm pretty sure name was Juan), we enjoyed the key activities of a perfectly clear day at Monserrate, Gold Museum, a walk through downtown neighborhoods, a nice lunch with typical food. We had very limited time at Botero museum due to being a little behind. The only complaint is that we did not get the tour we signed up for: it was only 6 hours (not 8), did not include all the sites described on the itinerary (which is why I chose this tour over others), and was not private (we had 2 other people with us: they were very pleasant and nice to have around however). We did not get contacted the day before and I was not able to reach anyone through the Get Your Guide app or earlier at the travel company by phone, but they did show up on time at the location we specified! So: fantastic tour, but I think we were lumped into another tour we did not specify without being told, with less included, it was still wonderful, the company is very good, needs better communication with GetYourGuide

This tour provides a thorough overview of events key to understanding conflict and peace in Bogota and Colombia. Our guide Gigio, who has personally been impacted by violence, led us through Old Town and highlighted the complexities the role Bogota has played in Colombian political and social history to help us appreciate the struggles of the Colombian people. Gigio patiently answered a myriad of questions. He also made sure we had treats at the market where local businesses are thriving. For those of you think only of Colombia as its Narco reputation, come and hear about the resilience of the people.

Experiencia fantástica: What I contacted Impulse to do was unavailable. However dealing simply in WhatsApp (which was the easiest option for me) they put a bespoke package together for me. Day 1 was a Candelaria Walking Tour. The guide Gildardo was incredibly knowledgeable about the region, the country and its politics and troubles. A well delivered story tied to the geographic landmarks in Bogotá. Day 2 was Bogotá´s Gastronomic Wonders. The guide Raul, was a delight to spend time with. He has a fascinating personal story and I felt privileged to be guided by Impulse’s long term experience designer. He’s creative, knowledgeable and an empathetic. The selection of places and traditional food he introduced me to was a fabulous experience. I highly recommend booking with Impulse and you’ll be lucky if you get to spend some time with either Gildardo or Raul.

Experiencia fantástica: J'ai fait un tour privé avec Impulse Travel et leur guide John aujourd'hui. Tout était très bien , je me suis sentie bien encadrée et en sécurité tout au long de la visite à la Laguna de Guatavita. Les responsables sont professionnels. Les explications sont intéressantes, à la fois historiques, culturelles, sur la géographie , etc...Juste une chose : pensez bien à prendre une bouteille d'eau en verre si vous ne voulez pas être sans eau au milieu du parcours. Les bouteilles en plastique sont interdites et on doit les jeter à l'entrée du parc., Aussi il faut penser à emporter son repas car selon le trafic on n'a pas forcément le temps de s'arrêter pour déjeuner le midi et le retour est à 16 h à Bogotá environ.

Experiencia fantástica: When we decided to visit Colombia I searched for a local agency that was aligned with our interests in culture, history, both old and contemporary and importantly, social justice. Impulse took care if all of it!! We spent ten days in bogota and Medellín and surrounds. We did tours of outlying city areas where ex gang members and the communities are creating sustainable alternatives to the violence that had engulfed the country for so long. Truly inspirational. The there was a great food tour, visit to local coffee farms and an incredible bike tour through the lush mountains, ending in a beautiful colonial town, Santa Fe de Antiochia. Just magical. But what really stood out were the incredible guides we had. Raul in Bogota and Marcos, Ana Maria and Ana Cristina in Medellin. Mature, hip, knowledgeable and fun!! We learned so much. I have only one complaint: we needed more time to explore more of this amazing country. We will be back. And will definitely be using Impulse again!

Experiencia negativa: The worst we've ever had. We booked 2 tours with them in Bogota on two different days weeks in advance and got neither. For the first one they never showed up. No call, no text, no Whatsapp message, no email. I called 3 times and no one picked up on their customer service line either. For the next one we found out they had cancelled it 2 days before and never contacted us in any way. Tripadvisor told us when we followed up a 2nd time to confirm if the guide was going to come. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional behavior. I've never had this happen with any other tour company anywhere in the world. Clarification following inaccurate owner response: They did not contact me, this is a lie. I had emailed and called the number on the emailed voucher both before and during the scheduled tour time in order to try and contact them multiple times. The tour operator had both my email and my phone number. I got no emails or calls. I had emailed them prior to the trip to confirm my address, and they had replied to it. There's no excuse for the complete lack of contact and not providing the service. Additionally, we were never notified of their choice to cancel. I just double-checked and the address was correct. They didn't automatically refund our payment either, we had to call another company today, almost 2 weeks later, to confirm and schedule the refund. Finally, the email he sent didn't address any of this, he just said the review above didn't explain enough about what went wrong and requested more details. I never received a message with any of the points below.

This tour provided a foundation for my understanding of Colombian history, geography and culture. Vivi was truly passionate about her country and a warm, friendly tour guide. The next day, I visited the Salt Cathedral with Maurizio who offered clear explanations about this unique site in an interesting way. It was amazing to explore this structure and discover its special attractions. Well done!
